Forgiveness

Forgiveness

How can I be forgiven?
How can I forgive?

Lily Tomlin supposedly said--
Forgiveness means giving up all hope for a better past.

How much energy have I devoted to wishing what was wasn’t?
A fraction of that put toward acting in the present, devoted to creating something different in the future, could change the world.

A path of forgiveness must start with me forgiving me.
Not a small step.
Perhaps the biggest step.
I open my heart to accept me being me, even as I reach out to be more of who God intended me to be.
I also reach inside with love and mercy.
My heart forgiving me, opens me up to forgiving all.
And if I can forgive myself and you, then perhaps you can forgive us as well.

  • May you open your heart to recognize the Godliness in yourself and others.
  • May you honor the yearning to do and be all that is good without regard to how far you or others may have missed the mark.
  • May you put aside what cannot be undone, and move to perfecting your world with mercy, kindness, forgiveness, and love.
